Hello Fellow Travelers,
We left Dubbo at 7.45am and headed off to Cunnamulla.
From Dubbo to Bourke was uneventful, the road trains being the main hazard. We stopped in Nyngan at the BP to fill up and was pleasantly surprised that the diesel was cheaper than Sydney.
Stopped at Bourke to get some basic supplies from IGA superstore and then stopped for lunch at the bakery around the corner. Nice pies, very clean and friendly, plus restrooms .
From Bourke to Cunnamulla you have to have your wits about you . The amount of road trains and trucks increased noticeably and the amount of Dead kangaroos, emus and other animals dead and alive needed your full concentration.
Other than that, the roads were good and some very nice old pubs and quaint townships along the way.
We reached our campsite (Warrego riverside tourist park) at 3.30pm and we were absolutely delighted at how beautiful this park is. All sites have drive through with a grassed area for an annexe, or as in our case, an awning and gazebo. Amenities are very nice and clean but with only 2 showers you may have to wait a bit, but well worth it. Definitely one of the better ones we have stayed at.
Unless you’re with Telstra, be prepared to be of the grid while you are here, or you can bring a sim card with you, which is what I would’ve done if pre warned.
In a word, this place is Utopia. Going to do some sightseeing and send through more pictures.
Safe travels
Lily and Vernon
